Etat Libre d'Orange Rien Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
Etat Libre d'Orange Rien Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
Notes: Incense, rose, leather, cistus, oakmoss, patchouli, amber, cumin, black pepper, aldehyde... Nothing is Everything. Do not believe what you first see... under the demureness of the name, the spicy savour of blackcurrant bays and the musky notes of blond suede. Rien is a second skin perfume, a perfume that clings to the body and perseveres in the mind. Like venial sin on the verge of becoming mortal, irresistible and resolutely pervasive. As light as mohair and as precious as cashmere, the fragrance envelops skin with a powdered caress. It has the meticulous elegance and hypnotic beauty of a modern Dorian Gray, in a feminine/masculine version. An entrancing fragrance that leaves an unforgettable imprint. Utter charm, utterly charismatic. The vanilla/opium accord of the drydown reinforces the addiction. Rien is an essential. A perfumer's confession.

I think this is a beautiful scent that can be worn either by men and women. The prominent presence of the incense in the first hours of wearing makes it a great masculine perfume, and might be too present for the average woman. After about 4 hours of wearing the scent had a more feminine character on me: softer, a little powdery, with the smallest hint of freshness.
It is saturated with incense, and I had a church-like feeling in the first minutes of wearing, but that disappeared quickly and a pure incense (without hippie or church associations) remained.
I find the smell smoky, woody, warm and comforting. It felt like an invitation for meditation.

Etat Libre d'Orange Sécrétions Magnifiques Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
Etat Libre d'Orange Sécrétions Magnifiques Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
Notes: Lodized accord (fucus, azurone), adrenalin accord, blood accord, milk accord, iris, coconut, sandalwood, opoponax Sécrétions Magnifiques is as real as an olfactory coitus that sends one into raptures, to the pinnacle of sensual pleasure, that extraordinary and unique moment when desire triumphs over reason. Masculine tenseness frees a rush of adrenalin in a cascade of high-pitched aldehydic notes. The sensation of freshness is gripping. Then the fragrance reveals a metallic side, precise and as sharp as unappeased desire. We are on a razor-edge... skin and sweat mingle, and tastes of musk and sandalwood. The slightly salt marine effect stirs, arouses, and sets your mouth watering. Pleasure explodes and all goes wild. Confusion reigns supreme. A subversive, disturbing perfume. It's love or hate at first sight. Sensuous jousting is rarely satisfied with half-measures...In between Don Juan and the Woman who offers herself, arms are laid down...who will be the first to surrender?

Some call this one a masterpiece, some call it a scent, some call it a perfume, some (myself included) prefer the word "stench".
I tried a sample of this, and it was by far the strangest "perfume" I ever smelled. To be honest: I wish I haven't tested it, since it was a very unpleasent experience.
I smelled dirty wet dog, combined with sea water that had been in a jar for too long. Something warm and sweet (but not the right kind of it), something lightly floral (but not the kind of flowers you want in your house)... A strange combination, and very unpleasant to my nose. I kept it on for several hours, hoping it would grow into something beautiful but that moment never came.
My advice: buy the Etat Libre sample set and be very very careful when you use your sample. Taking a blind buy on this one seems like a very bad idea to me!
