Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
This fragrance is not an Oriental, but an Arab and a Lutens. That being the case, don't expect it to fit in. The point of departure was a scented wax, found in a souk and long forgotten in a wooden box. The amber only became sultanesque after I reworked the composition using cistus, an herb that sticks to the fingers like tar, then added an overtone that nobody had ever dreamed of: vanilla. Why? Because vanilla is sticky, too, and it clung to my memory. Our Fragrance Expert says: "Ambre Sultan is perhaps the most popular and iconic of Luten's scents.  It's an oriental take on amber (an accord of benzoin, labdanum and vanilla) that mixes the plushness of the accord with deep spices and herbs evoking the vivid image of Moroccan spice markets. It is nothing short of a classic."

Ok, with AS you have to give it a few wears to see if you are compatible with it or not. Some people love this while others despise it.
When I first tried this (you have to try this first) the strong medicinal note sent my head back. I didn't get on with it at all and put the sample away vowing never to go back!
Another amber scent Tom Ford Amber absolute convinced me to give AS another shot. I'm glad I did, After 20 mins the medicinal side dies down and the true amber comes through along with some spices.
It's very strong aswell so go easy on the trigger, you will get noticed wearing this. I've had mixed comments on it but more positive than negative.
I'd say definitely a winter frag this, another Serge with a warming quality to it and one for the above 20 year olds. It is a mature scent that the younger crowd wouldn't appreciate I think. I get a good 8 hours plus from this scent so you get your money's worth!

Amouage Fate Man Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
Amouage Fate Man Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
Amouage Fate Man Eau de Parfum Spray presents the haunting intensity of uncertainty. Fate's notes of citrus, absinth and sharp ginger are a fresh yet tumultuous interpretation of the unknown. Its heart of rose and frankincense and resonating base of cedarwood, sandalwood, musk, liquorice and tonka bean suggests the power of the inevitable. An immutable tour de force that cannot be reasoned with. For this edition, Amouage's iconic glass crystal bottle is dressed with a sundrenched rainbow undertone, and its gold plated lid is topped with an aurora borealis inspired Swarovski crystal. Top Notes: Mandarin, Saffron, Absinth, Ginger, Cumin Heart Notes: Everlasting Flower, Rose, Frankincense, Lavandin, Cistus, Copahu Base Notes: Labdanum, Cedarwood, Liquorice, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood, Musk

When I first sprayed Fate I thought 'this smells wierd', kind of sweat with spice in it! There is a note in the opening that I did'nt like but after the intial blast of strangeness it mellows down to just the spices. After an hour or two it becomes very similar to Nassomatto's Black Afgano, only without the hashish note. The difference between the two is BA lasts longer than Fate but Fate has the more appealing drydown.
As always with Amouage, the quality is there, from the botle to the juice itself. I would not recommend blind buying this, try first, it maybe different on your skin to mine and for the price you have to be sure!

Undefeated Vanilla. An unmistakable explosion of spices grips the soul, the sensual encounter of a crackling Oregano and a fruity Pimento Berry refreshed by a mist of Bergamot. They reveal an addictive heart of pure Amber, an overdose of Vanilla caressed by Somalian Opoponax and the immortal and sacred light of Olibanum. Resins in fusion, like candied honey pouring into a tumultuous flow of dark and Smoky woods, there comes at last the animalic and vertical scent of Oud, the deep growl of Leather and a slightly gourmand touch of Sandalwood and Patchouli. An incessant duel of spices and balsams, Interlude Man is a sublime display of the harmony that warms a heart free of its inner turmoil. Fragrance Family: Woody Spice Top Notes: Bergamot, Oregano, Pimento Berry Heart Notes: Amber, Frankincense, Cistus, Opoponax, Vanilla Base Notes: Leather, Oud, Patchouli, Sandalwood

monster longevity

I like to get my money's worth from a fragrance in terms of longevity and Interlude do not dissapoint. It lasts about 18-20 hours on me with only 1 spray, it's potent stuff. Spray too many times and you'll choke yourself with it!
When I wear this it reminds me of an underground church in Rome I visited. It has the damp stone and moss, incense, smoke and ageing wood smell in it. Its similar to the Armani Prive line 'Bois D incense' only alot better quality.
Well worth the money as a bottle will last for a long time. This I wouldn't recommend for the younger generation, 25 years and up can easily pull this off!

I love Mugler frags and have all the Amen flankers he's done but this is the worst for me. Instead of the Amen dna mixed with coffee or whisky, Pure shot is its own scent. It has no connection with the original Amen.
The smell is ok but I asked a couple of people what they thought of it, one said it smelled like shower gel, the other thought it was Lynx.
On first spray you get mint, which is a nice cooling blast but its soon gone then just a mash up of faint citrus and a bit of spice.
The longevity is what kills this, I get 2 to 2 1/2 hours from it and thats it, gone. The sillage is poor aswell.
I expected better things from Pure shot and am dissapointed that its not up to Muglers usual quality.

Dior Homme Intense is the quintessence of prestige and sophistication in a woody ambery Eau de Parfum, between strength, singularity and confident sensuality. "Dior Homme Intense is a 'dry' and persistent oriental. Its full, round notes are wrapped in wood to give the composition a drier character. It has a clear, unrestrained manliness about it." - François Demachy, Dior Perfumer-Creator OLFACTORY DESCRIPTION: Tuscan Iris Iris absolute is one of the most precious elements of the perfumer's palette. Its extraction is a very long and delicate process: the rhizome must first be treated and then dried for at least three years. Its extraordinarily strong, almost pervasive fragrance of powdery accords reveals its woody green nuances, recalling the comforting aroma of warm bread. Ecuadorian Ambrette Seed Ambrette Seed is a noble ingredient in the palette. Hibiscus fruit seeds are distilled to obtain an ambrette "butter". The fatty acids are then washed away, leaving only a purified essence. Its musky and slightly fruity accents, between Pear Liqueur and Silk Talc, feature in Dior Homme Intense. Virginia Cedar Indigenous to the United States, the essence of Cedar is extracted by steam distillation. Its refined, noble scent is used to deliver a full-bodied, energizing tone to base notes in many men's fragrances. Prolong the trail of Dior Homme Intense Eau de Parfum with the Dior Homme ritual: 1. Awaken the senses with the invigorating notes of the Dior Homme shower gel. 2. Soften your skin with the Dior Homme aftershave balm. 3. Apply Dior Homme deodorant for long-lasting freshness.

Let's not mess about this is a ladykiller. Wearing this will get you noticed by the ladies BUT and this is a big 'but', the initial blast you get smells like lipstick or a ladies makeup bag!
If you can over come that you'll love this juice!
After the lipstick smell which is the Iris coming out it melts into a creamy coco vanilla.
This is very similar to Guerlain L'instant extreme so if you have that you may not need both.
I get around 7hrs from it which is great, i'd say its an evening scent as its pretty heavy. The bottle is cool as well.

Potion was a suprise package to me having heard little of D2squared. Firstly this fragrance is linear, it won't change from start to finish, so, if you enjoy the opening you'll enjoy the drydown.
Potion is a heavy woody fragrance and to me smells like being in the wood work dept at school. Its just the smell of wood intensified! If you can't imagine that smell, its like the small shops that have lots of the wooden toys and other wooden objects hanging about. Failing that it smells like a woodcutters wood shed!
It is a very manly smell although on me the silage and projection is not brilliant and the longevity, for an EDP is poor. I get 6hrs max! I expect more for EDP concentration. This is Potions only drawback for me.
If you're a fan of woody scents, this will be right up your street!

Muglers best

As a bloke I obviously don't wear this but having bought it for my girlfriend I can't give it high enough marks. I think Angel is Muglers best fragrance of his entire range, both male and female.
The opening of Angel could put some off as it a little harsh with patchouli foremost but just as Amen this fragrance doesn't stay the same. After a couple of hours it mellows out into a caramel and cocoa sensation. It lasts for hours, literally 15hrs +.
You can't ask for more from a fragrance. It is a gourmand perfume so won't suit everyone and dont put more than 2 sprays on as its power can overwhelm! It suits any age from 18 upwards and works perfectly for work, going out or just being in the house.
I love to smell this on my GF especially when the caramel comes through although it does get me thinking about reaching for a chocolate bar!

A refreshing and distinctive cologne. Pure Italian essence, dedicated to men and women, skillfully blended to achieve a perfect balance of Sicilian citrus fruits. Its well-coordinated melange of flower essences include crisp English lavender, rosemary, verbena and Bulgarian rose, and its parsimonious base of vetiver, sandalwood and patchouli round of the iconic scent. Top Notes: Calabrian Bergamot, Lemon, Sweet Orange Heart Notes: Lavender, Rosemary, Verbena, Bulgarian Rose Base Notes: Vetiver, Sandalwood, Patchouli

On first spray the citrus nearly blows your head off but then some woods come through and they just make it smell.... strange to me, abit like a damp, fusty room full of old furniture. Add to that spraying some wood polish in there and you have the essence of colonia.
As it is a cologne the longevity is poor, the weakest concentration of oils so you would need to carry it around all day if you want to smell like it all day.
I think its aimed at the older generations, I couldnt see anyone under 40 pull this off.

As the name suggests it is a pine fragrance and that pretty much all you get! There is no change in the smell throughout its life which is great if you love pine but it can get abit 'air freshener' after a bit.
I do get a hint of gingerbread in it aswell, I don't think its in the note breakdown but there is something hidden in with the pine that is noticeable, somewhat bitter.
As with most Serge Lutens, the longevity is good, aprox 7hrs on me, its no chergui but I will be adding this to my collection.
I imagine this is what Hansel and Gretel would smell eating the gingerbread house in the middle of a pine forest.
This frag is no fairytale but quite a distinct smell that would get as many haters as it would lovers but for a pure pine scent this is the best!

Serge Lutens Chergui Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
Serge Lutens Chergui Eau de Parfum Spray 50ml
A fire fanned by the wind, a desert in flames. As if bursting from the earth, Chergui, a desert wind, creates an effect that involves suction more than blowing, carrying plants, insects and twigs along in an inescapable ascent. Its full, persistent gusts crystallize shrubs, bushes and berries, which proceed to scorch, shrivel up and pay a final ransom in saps, resins and juices. Night falls on a still-smoldering memory, making way for the fragrant, ambery and candied aromas by the alchemist that is Chergui

This is a true masterpiece in perfumery!
This has rave reviews and for good reason, its a delicious fragrance.
Even though it leans to the ladies its a unisex scent so its up for anyone. I'd recommend this for ages 25+. Its not a clubbing scent, more a relaxing sense massager!
To imagine what it smells like, picture standing in a warm country side surrounded by hay, tobacco and spices. There is also a syrup essence to it aswell which adds to the sweetness.
The smell stays the same from start to finish, it lasts for aprx 9 hours on me.
Its definitely not for the warmer months as it could become cloying and its not really a signature scent. I couldnt wear it everyday but in the winter months I use it every week as it has a warming quality to it.
